See You When I See You & Happy New Year

Dearest Friends,
I am going to be quite busy the next few days .. what with the last minute unofficial packing for JB, wedding, sending Yana off to Melaka, making sure Arlina is well provided since she will be home here with her friends till middle of January before going for her practical in KL.  And the housework seems to pile more the closer I get to going.

I will be offline for the first few days in JB till I get my broadband. Not too long I promise. (You know too well I cant be without internet for long hehehe)

I am not saying goodbye. I am just gonna say see you when I see you cos I will be back from time to time and hopefully it will clash with some running events and a TT session with friends :) Saying goodbye is like so final and like I am not gonna see you guys again, so that is NOT going to happen.

Before it gets crazy and I miss my chance, here is wishing all of you, my dear friends and readers, FMVs and others, especially my RBUs gang, a wonderful 2011. It has been a wonderful up and down year for me and knowing each and everyone of you has been truly awesome. All of you will always have a special place in my heart. Always always kan Kash?
May you be blessed with long life, good health  and wealth. May Allah bless you and your family. May your lives be filled with happiness and laughter and surrounded by love.
May you all keep running, cycling, swimming and whatever else that you love doing.

I love you guys, truly ! See you here and FB.

Dont forget me eh???

A giant leap

Azam is a dyslexic student. Google it, there are lots of information. The link I have given is good, for it lists down the symptoms of a dyslecix child. Many , often, not realising the problem always blames a child of being slow or stupid and not give them the due attention and help. Trust me, a dyslexic person is way smarter than us in many ways :) Einstein is one of them yo !

Azam scored 4As and 4Bs for his PMR. One big giant leap and a boost of confidence for him. He did not get here easily and I am so proud of him. Watching him in the room with the teachers and the surprise followed by awed look on his face that said, wow I did it ! was priceless.

This was the boy that took two years to finally hold his pencil the correct way. This was the boy who couldnt read and write properly till year 3 in school. This was the boy who had only copied only one line from the blackboard and the teacher was already erasing the rest away. This was a boy who when overwhelmed with confusion , cant even compute a simple 1 + 1 !! Till today he wont be able to tell you just like that what comes after K or before R without reciting the whole alphabet and telling time is still confusing. But try he will.

And he persevered. On his own, quietly and slowly he trudged on. My heart goes out to see him struggle at times but I never interfere and only help when he asked for it. Like my two girls I never push them for As, giving it their best was all we ever asked and so far they are doing fine. And they know I am there if they needed me.

He once asked me if he was stupid. My heart broke. And I explained to him that the only difference between him and others was that  he needed a different way to approach the subjects and he studied differently. Takes longer for him to understand some things but I also pointed out in some things he simply excelled at them.

Our short stint in Japan helped him tremendously, the school had really good support for students like him and he could progress in a normal class but doing things more to his level. And his school here provided me with teachers who understood his problems and helped him along the way.

Dyslexic students need more attention, and a lot of patience to deal with them. With support, guidance and again, patience, they will overcome it. Its different from child to child but there is hope.

Azam still has many of the symptoms in the list but he is also slowly improving in many and grew out of some.

And I know , he now knows without a doubt that he will make it. This was the break that he needed to affirm his confidence and he made the big giant leap.

From zero to hero, this is for you Azam.

Sigh, I am just one happy mom :)

Speechless

It was a last minute plan to balik kampung this weekend. A stopover in Ipoh to visit an uncle who is not feeling well and two nights in Taipng .. nothing but food and more food.

I was missing friends and woke up thinking of them this morning, running the Malakoff .. would have been there if we were not here .. dont have any more runs after this and in two weeks time I will be off to JB. The farewell still lingers in mind and imagine my utter shock, surprise and overwhelm-ness when I logged in my facebook and found this. Rendered me totally speechless, for once , anak mami totally speechless !

Karen Loh, had made these and got some friends running with it and dedicated the run to ME. They actually made me cry. How could people be running with my name on their back?

I am so blessed to have known each and everyone of you and you are special to me in a very special way and never will I forget this especially and all other special memories.

You guys made my day, truly. I dont think a thank you is ever enough, and you know I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I heart all of you.

Err how is this possible ?

I love this Q&A from Ian's blog, check it out for more funny insights :)

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me..

I laughed so hard and shared it with many people.

And I am trying to find explanation for this

Derriere pose 6 months ago, had lots of running and gym time training except for the last 5 weeks prior to run on which i only went to the gym

Derriere pose, few days ago .. this is absolutely no running, only gym time
Seems I have lost quite a bit of fat from of my derriere LOL .. does this mean I should stop running?

*actually anak mami boring tak tahu apa nak buat*

Err .. Flashback Saturday (not)

I have successfully missed my flashback saturday posting for 3 weeks (or is it 4??) in a row and thus today, I submit a flashback of today :)

A last minute sms from Hailmi CAR came in on Wednesday, asking for assistance to volunteer at the TIBI run this morning and since I had nothing planned, I agreed. Then DM Diket sms-ed for SOS too. He had volunteered but had something on , so Azza was roped in as well :) Got up early just like going for a race and was there by 5:20am. Kalah orang nak lari pun hehe.

Small event but a lot of fun. Lots of familiar faces and I was truly happy to see Amsyah & Nik there. *ehem pirating was involved* They looked like they had so much fun and definitely had a good run, those two. Yim and KA were there. Its really funny to see KA in his MARATHON MANIACS vest but at the start of the 3k fun run only ha ha .. buts its the spirit kan?

Here are some pictures from today :) Have a good weekend peeps !

I was in charged of top 10 Category C timing and then giving out the certs and medal .. everyone was so happy to see me cos then they knew for sure  they will get a medal he he

Azza also volunteered :)
With KA

Yim, came back in 41mins
Mandi ke berpeluh? One guess who this is? hehehe

FMV in the making :) Karen Loh's junior

Sooo tired after being "carried" for 3km by his mom LOL
I miss these two guys, since they missed the gathering and also SCSM outing ..Met KA before spore. It was such a pleasant surprise to see them this morning .. sure made my day !!

More pictures here and here. Some pictures are from Skyscrapper, Eileen and Yim. Thanks guys :) I think all had good fun and exercise today.

And since we are on the flashback mode .. look what I found when I went browsing the CAR member's profile :)

Gebu sungguh lah anak Pak Omar ni kan? Orang pompuan pun kalah LOL

The tall, big and handsome era not so long ago :) Hehehe ..

AND NEXT ON THE AGENDA :

- FMVs taking another step

What do you know? FMV group had 4 members initially. It started when
Syed, Yim, Azza and I were scared stiff about doing our first full
marathon. Cheekily I started the page and invited friends to join and
roped in some friends to form a "committee" Little did I
imagine that we will be "known".

Tribute goes to all friends and runners who are always supporting us
in full force. All I did was to start the page and the rest is a great
team effort.

Copy of email below will explain this post. I will have to pass on
the responsibility to another person if I am not able to contribute
effectively since I will be moving to JB end of this year, but for
the moment I will get things started.

This, for me, is huge, considering it all started from a joke.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

Dear June

Let me introduce myself quickly. My name is Rainer Biemans and I am involved in the Standard Chartered KL Marathon (I got your contact from Choi). I am following your ‘Marathon Virgins Programme’ now for a while and like your idea of ‘developing’ new Full Marathoners. When I check on the numbers in Malaysia we end up with like 2,000 Full Marathoners in this country.

I would like to meet you and share a few ideas and explore if we could have some sort of collaboration for 2011, I would love to see close to 2500 Full Marathoners in next years SCKLM.

Let me know if you have time for a cup of coffee.

Thank you for your feedback and best regards
Rainer

Its a signed and sealed deal

Well, its confirmed.

We got Azam registered in a school yesterday. All school fees paid for and the deal is sealed. No turning back because it will mean we will lose our RM5,000 deposit.

So, come January 2011, anak mami will be a temporary johorian for at least 7 years!!

Sigh. Honestly, I would like to stay back here for the two years of Azam's schooling and join my husband once Azam is in University. Zaki's posting to JB has now been extended till he retires, unless something else crops up. Not that we have never done long distance marriage .. our first few years together, he was sailing and I see him every 4 months for one month. Now we get to see each other every other week.  But being "on land" for so many years has made my husband manja!

But we've always believed family should be together. This time we made an exception giving Azam the priority to choose and if he had chosen to school here, I would be commuting up and down jb every other weekend which is not a problem for me .. my PB is 3 hours house to house LOL. (drive not lari ok)

But chosen the new school in JB he did.  In his own words "I want to try something new". Arlina will be doing her practical from January - April 2011 then she's out in the working world and Yana will stay in hostel and both will come back to us during their breaks.

So, you guys wont see much of me next year, no more this anak mami kiasu-ing at runs or gatherings .. but we have facebook and blogs , sms and yahoo chats to keep in touch (zaki and ijam, kena buat fb nih) but insyaallah I will come back for some runs, even if I dont run .. the ones that is close to my heart and where most of you will be taking part !

And if all things goes well, FMV banner might be "official" during SCKLM 2011 :) will keep you guys posted on this once things get going.

I was looking at the calendar and realised I cant fit in any weekends for an RBU gathering this month, so my farewell do for you guys will have to be done next year , I will choose one weekend he he ..

I am so gonna miss everyone.

PBIM - Kedai Runcit Anak Mami

First of all, my heartfelt thank you to my partner-in-crime , a certain Ms M that  for personal reasons wishes to remain anonymous :) without her, I would have been all alone for solid 7 hours on the bridge at the 35km mark!
**********************************************************************

The idea of setting up kedai runcit was of course inspired by Kash/Rais and gang's wonderful gesture during SCKLM10, waiting for RBUs and FMVs. Since I cant run, I decided to give back at the most crucial time of running a marathon, I remembered how it was for me .. pushing myself on my swollen knees to see the familiar faces there and knowing that once I am there, the finishing is a definite YES. I managed to get in touch with the PBIM organisers and they were really supportive, so I got my transport pass to drive my car into the route :)

Went shopping with Azza on friday - gatorades, buns and chocolates, power gels, sprays, plasters, nuun tablets, deep heat .. what we can think of we got it .. some are personal supplies and some we bought. We still have some fund left from the sale of the FMV vest.

Arrived Penang saturday morning, went to the collection centre to get my pass and instructions and lunch this was the only time the RBUs had a decent gathering .. a quick lunch and lambung session:)  then it was back to the room, rested a bit and  carbo loading gathering .. many didnt make it but some did and it was fun. Everyone was in high spirits! Dispersed early and then decided to take a drive through to see where I would be stationed and alas, we got it wrong - the stupid map lah ..

Back to room, showered and tried to get some sleep .. I managed a good hour and I think Zack Yui must have thought he'd called the wrong roomm when I answered the phone croaky and groggy LOL ..I was out by 1215am .. Azza went with me to get some ice for the cooler box and then we met up with Ijam, Zack, Ray and Deo, all dah tak sabar you know ! My partner was there and we said our goodbye and made our way.

1st obstacle - police had closed the road and the officer at first refused to let us in despite me having the transport pass and I was still within cut off time to enter the route!  I finally managed to pujuk him .. "special case" he said and let us in ... whatever ..

Drove to where my station was supposed to be only to find NOTHING. No one was there, no road marker , NOTHING. Called the organiser and she told me that I was at the wrong place , that I had to find my way OUT OF THERE, and make a u-turn and go I dont know where. Look for the bird statue she said. Huh? Luckily the road was closed so we could roam the whole street being the only car there LOL. My partner was really helpful here, I was panicking thinking that I wouldnt find the place and that I had some of the runners stuff with me, alamak! But she was like, lets just drive and see .. so we drove down the road, still nothing, made a u-turn and went up the road and up and voila, I saw birds ... heaven!!! Saw the water station, the red cross and the 35km marker. We decided we'd set up at that point ..

We were ready by 1:30am and then it was just the waiting game. Then it threathened to rain so we quickly kept some of the placards and stuff in the car and then it poured. We were caught a few minutes in the heavy downpour and managed to make it into the car. I was fervently praying that none of our runners would come then, how to help them in rain like that? but I had secretly told myself, if anyone came in that rain , then I'd just go out and be in the rain with him/her. I would only get wet!! We watched the runners coming down the road in the car .. some still running strong, some slow jogged .. so many runners, so many different styles .. one guy was wearing the ladies sportsbra and his pants was really slipping down his bulging tummy and when he passed us from the back, half of his butt was showing LOL .. lucky me and M did not go blind !

And the rain subsided and we got out of the car even though it was still drizzling .. the boot door became our umbrella and we waited. Farid from CAR was the first familiar face that came through .. and then more and more passed us on the other side of the road. Many waved and said hello and we told them to stop on their way back.

I was at the 35th km mark .. they came in many disguises. Some still strong and didnt stop merely giving us the thumbs up when we clapped for them to go on .. some were really bad, tired, cramps , hungry. We catered to all that dropped by but kept enough supplies for our own members. Its so humbling to be there and helping them. Water ran out at the water station just before 7am  and suddenly we were the only place runners could turn to !

I had about 30 bottles of gatorade, so we started to pour out drinks in cups .. we gave out buns, chocolates, sprayed on so many legs - some gebu like zack yui's, some oh so the berbulu (Yim and Nik oso cannot challenge) that I had to give them the can to do the spraying themself ha ha .. tak sanggup ! Some hitched up their shorts so high that had me praying I wont get a glimpse of little willy in case they decided to run "free and wild" if you know what I mean LOL.

I had dejavu of me at that km during SCKLM. How seeing familiar faces and getting encouragements gave me the final push. One guy was so hungry and when  I offered him a bun, he was so grateful but before he took it he told me that he didnt have any money on him .. oooh its free I said, .. the look on his face made it all worthwhile being there. "you are my angel" one guy told me when I gave him half bottle of gatorade and sent him off on his way.

And we had a group of local guys who chatted us up LOL. Its so funny kena tackle in loghat penang u know. Funnier still they recognised me from FB and talked  about me right infront of me .. it went like this between the 4 of them :-

"macam besa tenguk aja .. and he looked at me"
another said .. aku tau ..aku besa tenguk dia .. banyak dlm fb LOL
another went "haa betoi betoi .. apa nama dia? and they looked at me? june I said
and he went " aku ingat, june malik .. baru aku cam dia .. amboi dia tinggi no ... lawa ..  tadi aku perasan kat dia pasai dia tinggi"

And they ate and drank and thanked us and shook hand with us and left. M and I had a good laugh .. one guy even had a thang for M you know ! Sheesh orang penang also kenal June Malik LOL.

Greeting our own people were superb .. and I sent Syed off with a big kiss. He looked  so dejected. But he made it to the end yay!!

Many runners dropped by, most were familiar but a lot of strangers dropped by too and we were happy we could help all of them. Those that went walking by I always tell them the same thing .. "only 7km more, even if you have to walk all the way, do not quit. You are almost there. Make sure you finish."  they even got nagged by me LOL.

We ran out of supplies by 8:15 and again I managed to pujuk one of the police on patrol to let us drive out slowly .. He relented after I pujuk him few times and by 8:30 we drove back slowly back to queensbay.

I was disappointed that I could not greet the runners at the finishing line but I cant be at two places the same time. Azza did a wonderful job there, thanks dear! But I met most of them at the 35km mark .. some I recognised, some came to introduce themself to me .. and many just called out my name and whizzed by.

I am sure M was really tired that day, thank you again. We had fun despite all the hours there. I will always remember this special day. Being able to give back in a small way is definitely wonderful. I think whenever I can, I will set up a kedai runcit :) volunteers???

Some pictures here :)

Something to ponder :-

* i was waiting for doc julin to stop by after the u-turn but she never came by .. its impossible for me to miss runners passing by cos they dont come in a big crowd .. but she was no where to be seen and later she told me that i was no where in sight too

** at least 3 runners claimed my car was not there at all ! Yikes ... I was there from 1:10 am to 830am yo !!

*** err, I hope no one tumpang me back .. double yikes

MY CAR WAS THE ONLY CAR ON THE ROAD THAT MORNING, THE ONLY CAR,  AND ITS RED , REALLY RED

PBIM - CARBO LOADING UPDATE

Oops, busy over the weekend termiss my flashback saturday .. and this saturday busy kat tanjung .. hmm ..

Anak Mami Balik Penang

He hehe ..

Ok, I have managed to secure a pass to drive in my car to water station number 10, which is both km32/35 for the full marathon route for PBIM.

So, during your run, you will pass me not once but twice :) at 32 and then when you make the U-turn again at 35. I was told that the station will provide 100+, water, sponge and POWERBAR, not power gels.

I am going to open a kedai runcit there for the fmvs, rbus and other friends. Rais & Kash's branch hihi. Will have some gatorades, and buns and sprays, plasters, and I will think of some other things as well.

So, FMVs, RBUs CARs, and friends do drop by so that we can kick your ass to the last 10km ! Also if you want to pass to me your own favourite drink, food, clothes etc for that mark, I will be staying at Eastin hotel, call me to arrange or leave it at the reception for them to pass it to me. Put your stuff in a ziplock bag and label it with your name/bib number. Also, my room at Eastin will be under JUNAIDAH (eerrggh) MOHD ISHAK, so dont go looking for June Malik ! I need your stuff by 10pm latest on that Saturday, because by 1am I will be making my way in already.

I am planning a carbo-loading session maybe around 5pm? too early? what is the best time? I need advise here please, havent ran in Penang before and also suggestions of a place for a large group meet up. Somewhere near and easy access. I believe most runners are staying not far from Queensbay Mall.

Also, for close friends, maybe lunch on Sunday at Line Clear? I hear its awesome :)

So, help me out here with the best time to carbo load and a venue for Saturday and if Sunday is a go?

Let's go rock Penang !!!

A fun filled Sunday

I didnt run in Klang nor did I participate in the Genting Trailblazer but I had fun just the same :) Highlights of the day in points (ini ray's idea suruh tulis blog in point form hahahh)

- morning I volunteered at the KPAC run, first was receiving and tagging baggage, then waited for the first 15 winners in Category C (Men Veteran) to cross the line and then helped out with handing out the medals to other runners after that

- girls power today .. justiffa ran her first 12k event in 1:33 and Azza, my niece Fara, and friends Serena and Jay all did well with timing of 1:43 plus minus few minutes ..

- love to see the happy faces getting their well deserved medal (its really nice too .. err much nicer that the kayu in genting LOL)

- met up with a lot of friends and made new ones .. I've missed quite a number of runs and thus its so good to see friends again !

- curi tulang, left 10 minutes earlier, (with permission hehe) rushed home and drove my car pretending like its an F1 vehicle... (with Deo as my GPS/navigator and partners in crime, Tiff and Azza) up to Genting, to see our friends mudding it out at the Trailblazer event but more importantly for the "surprise" makan Syah & Ziff helped coordinate for October birthday boys, Nik and Diket. I think Tiff and Azza was hanging for dear life at the back and Deo was simply keeping his cool LOL, an hour from Port Klang to Genting you ..

- realised that the game was still on so we parked and walked to the finishing area, but not before tackling two slopes chewahhhh hahahaha ..

- most RBU's finished, and its so great to see all of them again after so long .. I miss you guys and Tiff aka Justiffa was introduced to the RBUs .. a face to a name finally (cun kan kak tiff??)

- we also helped ourselves to the MILO and food for the participants (heheh tumpang sekaki) and sat around talking and lambong sessions .. and at the same time I was jealously looking at the participants coming back to the finishing line, tired, muddy, in somesort of pain but ahh the fun was apparent ! i hope i can heal through and through and soo am gonna do this next year !

- waited for jaja, dancing ciken to come back with her partner and she so did it in style .. lenggang lenggok yang sexy and kerlingan mata .. walau dlm berlumpur LOL .. its so nice to finally meet you hot mom!

- we cheered the other participants and I hooked up with some fmvs, cap ayam friends for a quick chat .. the one participant that caught all our attention was the handicapped runner, no hands but he was really awesome .. i especially loved his rolling under the net to finally emerge at the end of the obstacles and finish the race in style ..

- this is a fun adventure, many uncles and aunties joined the challenge and did really well too .. I am in awed of their determination to finish, malu laaa they can do it !!! some could hardly move by the time they arrived at the last obstacle,  but they all made it to the finishing line .. kudos to them ..

- Ijam so happy to see Shanaz and especially Pui San LOL

- Ijam buat malu kat the girls with the RUB ME tshirt .. while zaki and deo couldnt resist them, err even Syah for a while kan? hahaa ziff jual mahal, tenguk "brand baju" dari jauh LOL

- we made our way to genting view resort club house where Ian stayed and almost had to ditch our makan2 plans but the pak guard relented and allowed us to have our buffet spread ..

- menu was nasi lemak, karipap ikea, fruits, tarts, roti canai, kari ikan, super yummy bday cheese cake, mango pudings, 100+, gatorade, and more .. carbo load baik punya !! Nik and Diket malu2 potong cake with emergency knife made from paper plate .. cayalah ..

- lots of lambongs but i guess i topped it off with my comment of "sudah expire" - you gotta be there to know what ha ha

- finally parted ways but am sure everyone went back with good memories :) cant wait for the blogs to come out hehee .. pictures are everywhere in FB :)

-  apalah Nik nak mengena orang with his picture captions, he was gleefully snapping away heheh

- Ian, miss the baby smell oredi .. pinjam baby eh???

WELL DONE GUYS ....

So, what you think??

So, yesterday ...

I went to gym early before class started to  discuss with my instructor on how she can help me with my workouts to cater for my current situation. predicament.

She was with someone when I arrived so I sat waiting at the back of the gym, must be a new member inquiring about her classes I thought.

Then she called me in. Err?? Ok so I went.

I had to control myself from laughing, there she was, totally aghast to see me. MAKCIK NASI LEMAK nak join gym hahahahaahah .. well its good that she took my advise hihiihi but what are the odds that she chose the gym that I go to? hahahahahaahah .. I wished I could read minds for that particular moment to know just what she was thinking LOL.

My instructor, Sal, was of course oblivious to our "encounter" went ahead to introduce me to her, "this is June, one of my BEST students " ... hahahahaha hahaaah and now I know her name is _____________________. You should have seen her face and mine. One was totally aghast and disgusted and god knows what and one was truly truly trying not to laugh and had to just stand there and be nice and control macho.

To her great relief she found out that she will not be in my classes  since she is new so she will have to join the beginners class and make her way up to ehem, my level .. the advanced class. But she will have to see me whenever she comes because my classes are before hers he he he.. or on days that I am lazy and decide for a slower paced class when I will join HER class (of course she didnt know this laaa)

The thing is she hasnt paid, she came to enquire. She was supposed to start next month. So what do you think? will she join us? hahahaah .. I am not too sure, judging from the way she looked at me, I dont think so .. you know the look that can kill? hahahaha (my gym clothes are much more revealing  different than my running clothes heheeh since its an all ladies gym)

But truly, I hope she will. Sal is a good instructor and will be able to help her achieve her target providing she works hard. I have no issues with her. I will still smile (gleefully) at her if she were to join the gym whenever we cross each other he he ..

i guess we will know next month eh?

Anak Mami's Medical Report and Run (not) Status Update

Medical update 1 : I have back problems from my early 20's, I have half extra spine bone than you guys (surgery to remove is not recommended) and my spine is slightly tilted to the right. That , long time ago, sometimes would render me helpless in bed, I'd wake up in excruciating pain and the bones from waist down would somehow jammed and I need to just lie there for at least two hours to unjammed it. I remember when hubs had to leave me and go to work and would call  to ask, "hidup lagi??" ha ha ..thank god I had a really good friend to come and help me with the girls when I had my jammed days .. they were young and cant fend for themselves! (Azam not around yet)

I remember in our early years of marriage my husband was sailing, one time he came back and I was having one of my backaches problems, went to the office to get letter for specialist visit, and everyone was making fun of me .. "husband takde 4 bulan, balik cuti sampai sakit pinggang LOL " (boss remember this?) .. if only they knew the truth and nothing but the truth .. if THAT was the reason I wont complain lerr ...

Medical update 2 : i had a bad fall which had me doing a full flip and landed squarely on my back hitting the waist first .. so go figure!

Somehow, when we came back from our overseas stint and I could go for aerobics classes from time to time, the pain went away. Not completely but much lesser. And I havent had any painful backache attack for the last 13 years or so, I'd have niggling pain from time to  time but a pain so mild that I sometimes dont realise it. There will be some bad days but it was bearable for me to go on like normal.

Trust me, even my doctor had to admit, my tolerance of pain is really really, I mean really high.  So when I actually admit I am in pain, then its reeeaalllly painful.

I woke up yesterday morning to that excruciating pain that I had forgotten. Went thru the day slowly (as to why my fb status said, didnt do squat today lol) and took some meds hoping its just a one time thingie. Unfortunately  I woke up today to the same. I am sitting on a chair 90 degree upright writing this ngeh ngeh ..

As you guys are aware, my knee is pretty busted from my 44.2km run (Yim, sorry yeee) and when I went to my doc last week, got an ear of babbling from him (lucky he is cute) and he put me on medication with strict instructions if there were to be no improvement, I am to visit him again.

Well, improved it did not. Normal walking in the mall strains the ligament so much so after half an hour,   I'd be limping a bit here and there so this morning I went to see him again. Got another lecturing (did I tell you he's cute?) and so I had no choice but to go for the jabs. Not steroids but close to it, stronger than normal painkillers jab .. 3 weeks in a row and physio. He made all arrangements there and then, I guess he knew anak mami too well, which irked me to the max (but he is cute ok laa).  And then the backache problem I had to tell him cos I cant stand it anymore.

After lots and lots of questions (and he got cuter and cuter) he concluded that my backache is back because I had abruptly stopped using my spine - I use to run daily, be it 3km but daily. And I havent had any consistent running for a long while now. Its like I am cursed, I run hard and long my knees take the woes and I stop my back start screaming. And I cant afford to gain weight too, right now I am at the "ngam-ngam" scale .. this is okay infact I dont mind losing a bit more.

We went through all my current exercise regime and finally I am allowed to do the following :- (i pity the people  waiting outside to see the doctor cos I was in the room looong time)

1) continue my cardio strength classes - lesser weight dumbells than I am carrying now till the backache subsides and on lowest board level or just do it on the floor  (err u guys faham kan? )

2) yogalates once i can do squats and lunges with dumbells exercise thrown in, but to start with normal yoga first but not in two weeks time since lots of stretching and squats are involved in yoga classes.

3) enjoy my salsa class, less hip gyrating LOL

(I have to sit and discuss with my gym instructor on what I can and cannot do in her class but she is superb and had always helped me out)

4) absolutely no long runs minimum till end of the year.  I am supposed to brisk walk only,  max distance 10 to 12km once a week only, the rest would have to be short ones, three times a week only - and I can only start my brisk walk end of next week and report to him.

Seems that my strained ligament and inflammation is quite bad. And of course that tweeny tiny tear.

So, thinking long term and being practical and smart (chewahhh) I am hanging up my running shoes for long runs.  So I am saying goodbye to PBIM and SCSM challenge this year. (I am holding my half marathon PBIM bib for someone  but will give away my SCSM bib, anyone interested contact me!!) I was sooo looking forward to get the  SCSM finisher tee laaa :(  but I've had zero training and thinking of  another  sure 7 hours (or more) of hobbling (with this knee condition) , no thank you. Thinking crazy I'd do this without blinking but thinking of the effects and responsibility to family and friends and the need of my legs for a long time to come ....

But I will be going full force to support the FMVs for both events (nana gives his  green light already) and also to kiasu with you guys. Insyaallah, where it permits I will do the short runs. Where it doesn't permit me to run, if I am around and free, you will see me at the starting line sending you guys off and at the finishing line welcoming you guys back !!

Reading the TNF warriors experiences and all, I want to do it one day. So anak mami is resting and come back stronger I will. Insyaallah. I am no quitter.

I have a promise to keep to a certain someone for another 42km tour during  SCKLM 2011. And I know you guys will always be here for me. For that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Someone sent me this text when I whined : "even if you can no longer run more after this, to me u r always a great runner in ur own style" .. you know who you are,  thank you, meant a lot to me (teary eyed pun ada hehe).

You guys will always have my support 100% .. so this is dedicated to all of you, my dear friends and brothers and sisters in crime :)

(excuse me, while i hobbled to cari tissue jap, *sheesh buat malu aje)

Heartsick, knees busted and excruciating/screaming  backache/spine .. they say it comes in three. I hope this is mine.

Fingers crossed that my backache would somewhat lessen by Saturday, if not I'd be bent triple when I get out of the car when we reach Taiping.  Its an important trip.  Excruciating  backache not strong enough a reason to miss this trip.

This weekend I will miss two wonderful events, the pool party at Ian's (jeles tahap gaban but then again I have weight problems ..) and Kash's HUKM party with the kids. You guys have fun and hopefully there will be more !

See you when I see you. Hugs and kisses. Take care. Be safe!!
